Ians IV | General IV Therapy FAQ
Welcome to our complete FAQ hub. Below you will find clear, detailed answers to the questions we hear most often about mobile IV therapy.
General IV Therapy
What is IV therapy and how does it work?
IV therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, minerals, and medications directly into your bloodstream through a small catheter placed in a vein. Because it bypasses the digestive system, your body absorbs nearly 100 percent of the nutrients almost immediately. This makes IV therapy especially effective for rapid hydration, recovery, and replenishing nutrients that are poorly absorbed orally. Most clients feel the effects during the drip or within a short time after.
Who is a good candidate for IV therapy?
Most healthy adults are great candidates for IV therapy, including busy professionals, athletes, travelers, new parents, and anyone recovering from illness or dehydration. Our nurses review your medical history before every session to ensure the treatment is appropriate for you. If you are pregnant, have kidney disease, or have a serious heart condition, we may require additional clearance. We always err on the side of caution and prioritize your safety first.
What types of IV therapy do you offer?
We offer a wide range of IV formulas designed for hydration, immune support, energy, recovery, beauty, athletic performance, and hangover relief. Popular options include the Myers Cocktail, NAD+, glutathione, high dose vitamin C, and customized blends. We also offer add ons like B12, magnesium, zinc, and anti nausea or pain medications. Your nurse can help you choose the right drip based on how you are feeling and your goals.
Is IV therapy safe?
Yes, when administered by trained medical professionals, IV therapy is very safe. Every treatment at Ians IV is provided by licensed registered nurses or paramedics under the oversight of our medical director. We use sterile, single use supplies and follow strict clinical protocols for every session. Serious side effects are rare, and our team is trained to respond to anything that may arise.
How long does an IV therapy session take?
Most IV sessions take between 30 and 60 minutes from start to finish. Specialty treatments like NAD+ can take longer, sometimes up to two hours, depending on the dose and your tolerance. Your nurse will arrive a few minutes early to complete a quick assessment, place the IV, and get you comfortable. You can relax, watch TV, work, or even nap during the drip.
How often can I get IV therapy?
Frequency depends on your goals and overall health. Many clients enjoy a weekly or biweekly session for ongoing wellness, while others book monthly or as needed for special events, travel, or recovery. Athletes and those with higher demands may benefit from more frequent treatments. Your nurse can help you build a schedule that supports your lifestyle and wellness goals.
Booking & Logistics
How quickly can someone get to me?
In most cases, we can have a nurse at your location within 60 minutes of booking, depending on the time of day and current demand. Same day appointments are almost always available, and we offer service 7 days a week. For guaranteed timing, we recommend booking a few hours in advance. If you have an urgent need, call or text us and we will do our best to dispatch immediately.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, an appointment is required so we can match you with the right nurse and prepare your specific IV formula. Booking can be done online, by phone, or by text in just a few minutes. We do our best to accommodate same day and last minute requests whenever possible. Scheduling ahead simply guarantees your preferred time.
Where do you serve?
Ians IV currently serves Rancho Cucamonga, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Denver, along with the surrounding metro areas of each. We come to homes, hotels, offices, gyms, event venues, and more. If you are unsure whether your address is within our service zone, just reach out and we will confirm. We are continually expanding to new cities based on demand.
Can you come to a hotel or office?
Absolutely. Hotels and offices are two of our most common service locations, especially for travelers, executives, and corporate wellness events. Our nurses arrive discreetly with everything needed for a clean, professional session. Just let the front desk or your team know to expect us, and we will handle the rest.
What if I need to cancel?
We understand that plans change. You can cancel or reschedule your appointment with no fee as long as you give us reasonable advance notice. Cancellations made very close to the appointment time may be subject to a small fee since the nurse and supplies have already been dispatched. Just call or text us as soon as you know and we will make it work.
Safety & Medical
Who administers the IV?
All IV therapy is administered by licensed registered nurses or paramedics with extensive experience starting IVs and managing medications. Every member of our clinical team works under the oversight of our medical director, who reviews protocols and treatment plans. Our nurses are also trained in advanced life support and emergency response. You can feel confident that you are in skilled, professional hands.
What are the potential side effects?
Most clients experience no side effects beyond a small bruise or mild soreness at the IV site. Some may notice a vitamin taste, a warm flush, or a brief feeling of needing to use the restroom during the drip. Allergic reactions are rare but possible, which is why your nurse stays with you the entire session. We screen carefully and adjust the drip rate to keep you comfortable.
Do I need a Good Faith Examination (GFE)?
Yes, every new client must complete a Good Faith Examination before their first IV. This is a quick virtual or in person review of your medical history with a licensed provider to confirm IV therapy is safe and appropriate for you. The process typically takes only a few minutes and can often be completed at the start of your first appointment. It is a standard part of safe, compliant medical care.
What if I have a medical condition?
Many people with chronic conditions safely benefit from IV therapy, but we always review your history carefully first. Conditions like kidney disease, heart failure, certain blood disorders, or pregnancy may require physician clearance or modifications to your treatment. Be open with your nurse about all medications and diagnoses so we can tailor the safest plan. When in doubt, we will check with our medical director before proceeding.
Pricing & Insurance
How much does IV therapy cost?
Pricing varies by treatment, with standard hydration drips starting at an accessible base rate and specialty formulas like NAD+ priced higher due to their ingredients. All pricing is transparent and listed on our website and booking platform. Add ons such as extra vitamins or medications are available at clear, fixed prices. Group bookings and memberships can also help reduce per session costs.
Do you accept insurance?
Because IV therapy is considered an elective wellness service, it is generally not covered by health insurance. We do not bill insurance directly for our treatments. However, we are happy to provide a detailed receipt if you would like to submit a claim on your own. Most clients find the convenience and quality well worth the out of pocket cost.
Do you accept HSA/FSA?
Many clients are able to use HSA or FSA funds for IV therapy, especially when there is a medical need such as dehydration, migraines, or recovery from illness. We accept HSA and FSA cards at checkout, just like a regular credit card. Approval ultimately depends on your specific plan rules. We recommend confirming eligibility with your benefits provider if you are unsure.
Are there hidden fees?
No. We believe in straightforward, transparent pricing with no hidden fees or surprise charges. The price you see when booking includes the nurse, supplies, and travel within our standard service areas. The only additional charges would be optional add ons you choose or travel fees for locations outside our normal zones, which are clearly disclosed before you confirm. What you see is what you pay.
Specific Conditions
Can IV therapy help with hangovers?
Yes, hangover relief is one of the most popular reasons clients book with us. Our hangover drip combines fluids, electrolytes, anti nausea medication, and B vitamins to rehydrate you and ease symptoms quickly. Most people feel significantly better before the drip is even finished. It is a fast, effective way to recover after a big night out, a wedding, or a Vegas weekend.
Does it help with cold/flu recovery?
IV therapy can be a powerful tool when you are fighting a cold, flu, or other viral illness. Drips loaded with high dose vitamin C, zinc, B vitamins, and fluids help support your immune system and rehydrate you when oral intake is difficult. Many clients report feeling noticeably better the same day. While it is not a cure, it can shorten recovery time and ease symptoms.
Can it help athletic performance?
Absolutely. Athletes use IV therapy for both pre event preparation and post workout recovery. Targeted blends of amino acids, magnesium, B vitamins, and fluids help reduce muscle soreness, replenish electrolytes, and support endurance. Whether you are training for a marathon, lifting heavy, or playing weekend sports, regular IV therapy can help you bounce back faster.
Will it help with energy or focus?
Many clients turn to IV therapy when they feel run down, foggy, or fatigued. Formulas that include B12, B complex, amino acids, and NAD+ can support energy production and mental clarity at the cellular level. Hydration alone often makes a noticeable difference in focus and stamina. Results vary, but most people feel a meaningful boost during or shortly after their session.
